As of July 1st, 2010, any person hiring domestic service personnel at their residence can enroll them at the Social Security (ISSS) as beneficiaries, as long as those employees don’t generate an income to their employer.

The beneficiaries are domestic employees who work in Salvadoran homes, as cooks, cleaning staff, nannies, housekeepers, drivers, butlers and gardeners, among others, and whose ages range from 14 to 60 years.

Workers thus insured will have access only to the complete portfolio of health services:

  • Medical consultation
  • Medication
  • After crediting a 6-month enrollment period, coverage for chronic pathologies (kidney failure, cancer, coronary heart disease, elective surgeries, among others) will be covered.
  • Maternity allowance (does not include the beneficiaries only the worker)
  • They will also have the right to disability permits, although the ISSS does not reimburse them

Services to be provided by FEG:

  • Information gathering for registration purposes
  • Employee registration at ISSS
  • Social Security monthly payroll processing, filing and payment
